Employee welfare has become a game – how can you differentiate yourself from competing companies to retain your workers and entice new talent? Over the years, sentiments surrounding welfare schemes have gradually shifted, with the mental and work-life balance being focal points in the change throughout the global workforce.
Mindful exodus – Mass Resignation Indicates Workers Want Better
In our post-Covid world, changes have accelerated. For better or worse, the pandemic exposed the shortcomings of employee support, or lack thereof, and conversation around burnout and mental health continues to bloom. The historic Mass Resignation that
The working world has visibly shifted from the hustler mentality to a healthier, more nuanced understanding of thresholds and boundaries. Innovation of employee support took the form of trialling four-day work weeks and mental health apps and workshops, an industry now that has exploded to value in the billions and with a projected 20% growth, according to global business management Deloitte.
But novelty expires, especially since these mental health apps also come with hefty price tags that smaller businesses have trouble affording.
Mixed Bag – Being Flexible to Balance Every Employee’s Needs
The Society for Human Resource Management released survey findings in 2016 to rank employee benefits from most to least helpful. The staff benefit that foresaw the most significant change was work-hour flexibility.
A research article by Glassdoor outlined generational differences in prioritizing the main employee benefits offered across the board.
